Sign of an inadequate education…

It’s an universal law- - intolerance is the first sign of an inadequate education. Person behaves with arrogant impatience, whereas truly profound education breeds humility.

— Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn (Russian novelist, philosopher, historian and political prisoner. He is one of the most famous Soviet dissidents, as an outspoken critic of communism. He helped raise global awareness of political repression’s in the Soviet Union, in particular the Gulag concentration camp system. He spoke from personal experience, having been arrested and sentenced to eight years in the Gulag for criticizing Stalin in a private letter while he was serving as a captain in the Red Army during WW2).

There are a number of cliche sayings on the subject; not understanding someone unless you’ve walked a mile in their shoes, experience is the most efficient teacher of all things, experience is the mother of prudence. Makes me think of the Ed Norton movie American History X, where a character turned mentor says to Norton’s character, about his racist actions, “has anything you’ve done actually made your life better?” (Something to that effect). In the movie, it is a black inmate that protects him from harm. Profound stuff. Just sayin’ ;) Hugs, XO.

Blessings,
