What I’ve learned is that it’s more complicated than that. My favourite therapist says our upbringing can leave us behind the eight ball. Unresolved issues can hide like little land mines, triggering us emotionally. He says if we address some of our old stuff, we may be able to soften and potentially avoid reactionary tendencies.
