“The poverty of being unwanted”...

We think sometimes that poverty is only being hungry, naked and homeless.

The poverty of being unwanted, unloved and uncared for is the greatest poverty.

We must start in our own homes to remedy this kind of poverty.

— Mother Teresa of Calcutta

My favourite therapist says that in abusive homes, children may feel unloved most of the time. Even in loving homes, children can feel unloved up to forty percent of the time. He says it’s up to us to make up the difference, by taking great care of ourselves now, as responsible adults (and sometimes that requires professional assistance and support). Just sayin’ :) Hugs.
