You are creating...

You are creating your life from within, and everything you experience on the outside is of your own creation. You may have created some things unconsciously, but still you created them. Whe you can take responsibility for all that is around you, not blaming yourself or anyone else, but undertstanding that somehow or another you created it, then, and only then, can you set yourself free. You will know that if you created it, you have the power to change it and create what you want.

- The Secret (Best-selling 2006 self-help book by Rhonda Byrne, based on the pseudoscientific “law of attraction” which claims that thoughts can change the world directly. The book has sold 20 million copies worldwide and has been translated into 50 languages).

One of my mentors taught me about the “victim mentality” and how to change this limiting mindset. I found the paradigm shift a process. I’m still working on it. Just sayin ;) Hugs. xo

The power of emotion...

The best revenge is no revenge...
Just forget they exist.

- Unknown

Ha ha. If we’re talking road rage, for sure. On the other hand, my favourite therapist says we should mine all of our feelings for a deeper awareness of ourselves and take appropriate action where needed. Apparently, our reactions are ours to own and they’re usually telling us something meaningful, like draw better boundaries or perhaps spend less time with people who bring us down. Just sayin’ :) Hugs.

Our legacy...

My favourite therapist says “We cannot change our legacy. We can’t change who our parents are, how we grew up and where we grew up.” The Serenity Prayer comes to mind:
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change;
Courage to change the things I can;
And the wisdom to know the difference.
Written by Reinhold Niebuhr, American theologian, used widely in sermons as early as 1934, published in 1951 and popularized by Alcoholics Anonymous and other twelve-step programs.
Just sayin’ :) Hugs.

Marriage is a verb...

Marriage is not a noun; it’s a verb. It isn’t something you get. It’s something you do. It’s the way you love your partner every day.

- Barbara De Angelis (Ph.D in psychology, American relationship consultant, relationship and personal growth advisor, spiritual teacher. De Angelis has written fourteen best-selling books).

I learned a huge lesson from my past relationships. Jamming the old square peg into a round hole does not a happy relationship make. We can’t change who we are, so finding a partner who fits naturally into our daily world is pretty much essential. Just sayin’ :) Hugs.

Your daily routine...

You’ll never change your life until you change something you do daily. The secret of your success is found in your daily routine.

- Unknown

They say diets don’t work for this exact reason. Maybe we need a very compelling reason to change our daily routine. For me, it was a bad break up. I just knew I didn’t want to go through something like that ever again. So I committed fully to my life, by setting the following goals; achieve a meaningful result at work every day, quit eating sugar (because it’s suuuper addictive and if I eat a treat, I find myself wanting one every day) and I learned to say no. Most importantly, I realized that I’d rather be alone forever than be with the “wrong” person. A great coach advised me to make a list for my next relationship, clearly outlining the kind of life I want to live and how I want to feel in my perfect relationship. No settling. Just sayin’ :) Hugs.

The mind...

The soul usually knows what to do to heal itself. The challenge is to silence the mind.

- Unknown

This is a running theme across many disciplines. The mind loves to sit in fear and doubt, which is quite anxiety causing. I’m amazed and often frustrated with the worrisome thoughts in my mind because I know I am well rewarded when I keep the faith. Just sayin’ :) Hugs.

Go with the flow?

Only dead fish go with the flow.

- Unknown

Ha ha ha. Seriously though, I think there’s a time and place for surrending to “what is” and there are also times to surrender to our inner voice. Boy, I had to learn this one the hard way. My favourite therapist talks about “having our own back.” Sometimes that means saying no to important people. We have to decide what we really need in the moment, for our well-being. Just sayin’ :) Hugs.
