Unsupervised...

In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

- Unknown

Ha ha ha. Seriously though, what do we do when no one is looking, in the privacy of our own homes? It's not always easy managing ourselves (i.e. raiding the fridge, or neglecting to exercise etc.). Just sayin' ;)

All the great things...

All the great things are simple, and many can be expressed in a single word: freedom, justice, honor, duty, mercy, hope.

- Winston Churchill

Not so easy to achieve though hey? Just sayin' :) Hugs.

"Clearing"...

I've always had a deep interest in psychology and the dynamics between people. To that end, I've embarked on numerous relationship workshops and life coaching sessions, both spiritual and traditional in nature. I learned that probably the most important part of a relationship is "clearing." I resisted clearing for a long time because I found it so uncomfortable. I hate conflict. In the end, however, until we're able to share our feelings and experiences with each other, tension sits in the middle like a bump in a rug. It takes some practice, but once each person finds a comfort zone with the process, there is some really good stuff on the other end. Oh, and we can make requests of one another to overcome unmet needs and disappointments. Nothing to lose in trying, anyhow. Just sayin' :)

From the soul...

When you
do things
from your soul,
other people really dig
that shit.

We can feel authenticity can't we? Feels right, feels good. Just sayin' ;)

Vulnerability...

The best people possess a feeling for beauty, the courage to take risks, the discipline to tell the truth, the capacity for sacrifice. Ironically, their virtues make them vulnerable: they are often wounded, sometimes destroyed.

- Ernest Hemingway

The Dalai Lama says our painful experiences allow us to feel greater compassion for others. Just sayin' :)

Good cheer....

The officer said,
"You drinkin?"
I said, "You buyin?"
We just laughed
And laughed.
I need bail money.

Good cheer everyone. Happy Holidays.

Moods...

My 4 moods:

I'm too old for this shit.
I'm too tired for this shit.
I'm too sober for this shit.
I don't have time for this shit.

- Unknown

Ha ha ha. Seriously though, man life has a way of wearing us down doesn't it. Kinda hard not to crack once in a while. Just sayin' :)

WTF? ;) ...

In bed, it's 6 am. You close your eyes for 5 minutes, it's 7:45.

At work, it's 1:30. Close your eyes for 5 minutes, it's 1:31.

Ha ha ha.  A little funny goes a long way. Just sayin' ;)

Loving...

I feel that there is nothing more truly artistic than to love people.

- Van Gogh

True love is unconditional. Sometimes we have conflicting needs/wants/priorities and in the end, we have to put our own health, well-being and happiness first. In my humble opinion, this is not selfish. Putting ourselves first is an act of self-care. Just sayin' :) Hugs.

Sacrifice...

That's want you do for someone you love... you risk what you feel for whatever they need.

That's true love, I think. Just sayin' :) Hugs.

Chin up...

A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.

- Winston Churchill

The Holidays can be very stressful. An optimist might say it can be a good time for drawing new/better boundaries and clearing up old stuff ;) Just sayin' .... Hugs

Happy Holidays everyone!

Other people...

Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone else's opinions. Their lives mimicry. Their passions a quotation.

- Oscar Wilde

Okay, so we can't all be original ;) But seriously, it's not easy facing peer and family pressure. Even if some of our friends and/or immediate family are chill and accepting, there's a peanut gallery out there and it can make our choices mighty uncomfortable... even if we're doing what's important for our health and well being. Just sayin' :) Hugs.

Making choices...

You're always one decision away from a totally different life.

There is bravery in making choices and owning our choices, good or bad. Better to be real than paralyzed. Just sayin ;)

Best or stressed? ...

Be with those who bring out the best in you, not the stress in you.

Lol, fair enough. Although, every relationship needs a clearing once in a while. Just sayin' ;)

Take a leap;) ...

"Living is a form of not being sure, not knowing what next or how. We guess. We may be wrong, but we take leap after leap in the dark."

- Agnes De Mille, an American dancer and choreographer. De Mille revolutionized musical theatre by creating choreography, which not only conveyed the emotional dimensions of the characters but enhanced the plot.

Wishing us joyous, love-filled and successful leaps in 2017!

Teachings from feelings...

Anything that annoys you is teaching you patience. Anyone who abandons you is teaching you how to stand on your own two feet. Anything that angers you is teaching you forgiveness and compassion. Anything that has power over you is teaching you how to take your power back. Anything you hate is teaching you unconditional love. Anything you fear is teaching you courage to overcome your fear. Anything you can't control is teaching you how to let go.

- Jackson Kiddard (Also know as Martin Kipp? Supposedly, Kipp has been traced to be the mysterious and popular author of Jackson Kiddard's aphoristic pieces. Kipp was also listed on Mind Body Spirit Magazine's list of 'The 100 Most Spiritually Influential Living People.'

A coach of mine once told me that anything I was feeling was my "stuff." I didn't understand it at the time because it seems counter-intuitive. There are things outside of our control and we are most certainly mis-treated at times. The point my coach was trying to make, however, is that we have free will with what happens next. We can choose to sulk and be bitter, or we can learn something new and make decisions or changes based on that. Just sayin' :) Hugs.

10,000 practice runs ;) ....

I fear not the man who has practised 10,000 kicks, but I do fear the man who has practised one kick 10,000 times.

- Bruce Lee

Wow, cool that even Bruce Lee knew about the importance of practice and repetition in achieving the highest level of excellence.

Kinds of intelligence...

Everyone is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.

Remake ourselves...

As human beings, our greatness lies not so much in being able to remake the world - that is the myth of the atomic age - as in being able to remake ourselves.

- Ghandi

Historically a people-pleaser, my biggest accomplishment in life may well be learning how to "have my own back" and speak up for myself. (Thanks to my favourite life coaches). Hugs.

Key to life...

When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down "happy." They told me I didn't understand the assignment, and I told them they didn't understand life.

- John Lennon

Ha ha, I love it. Seems like we need a sense of purpose though. No matter how simple it may be. Just sayin' ;)

"The Truth About Your Heart" ...

Your heart will fix itself.
It's your mind you need to worry about.
Your mind where you locked the memories,
your mind where you have kept pieces of the ones that hurt you,
that still cut through you like shards of glass.

Your mind will keep you up at night, make you cry,
destroy you over and over again.

You need to convince your mind that it has to let go...
because your heart already knows how to heal.

Be real...

We were born
   to be real
not to be perfect.

- Unknown

What is it all about? Take your pick; money, success, family, friendship, experiences, devotion to fairness and justice, true love, giving back, all of the above ?? There are universal notionns on the subject. Above all, we need each other. Connection with others is essential to our very survival. Beyond that, however, it does seem that we need to find our own peace, happiness, self-esteem. Just sayin' :) Hugs.

There may not be time...

The trouble is, you think you have time.

- Buddha

As I approach the 18th anniversary of my father's death, I am reminded that there will be no do-overs, no opportunity for clearing, no resolution and no deeper understanding. We didn't expect my Dad to die at 59 and I spent much of my life being afraid of him. I was also deeply disappointed in his limitations, which left me feeling judged and misunderstood. I am still surprised by how I felt and how I still feel after his passing. It might have taken a couple of years, but in the end, I would give anything to sit down with my Dad and get to the other side of our challenges. Just sayin' :) Hugs.
